 About Chris Allred

Duties of the County Attorney

The Weber County Attorney’s Office handles both criminal prosecution and civil matters for the county.

The Weber County Attorney's Office currently has some of the best, hardest-working criminal prosecutors in the State of Utah. But being a great prosecutor is only part of the equation; to be effective, our prosecutors must partner with law enforcement in a joint effort. Therefore it is critical that your county attorney has the trust and support of local law enforcement. Chris already has a great working relationship with and widespread support of agencies throughout Weber County

Chris is also committed to making our neighborhoods safer by partnering with law enforcement agencies in innovative ways. For instance, he spent hundreds of hours working with prosecutors and law enforcement to implement Utah's first "gang injunction" which resulted in a dramatic decrease in gang crime.

The importance of having a county attorney who is experienced in local government law cannot be overstated. Weber County is a large and complex organization with over 30 departments and sub-departments, 1,000 employees, and a $120 million dollar annual operating budget. The legal issues facing any local government of this size are numerous and often complicated. Therefore it is critical that your county attorney have this kind of experience and background.

Chris has acted as legal counsel to Weber County for seventeen years and has a wealth of experience in this area of law. He is familiar with and actively engaged in the issues currently facing Weber County, and Chris is the only candidate for county attorney who has this experience and background. Chris will focus on proactive measures to prevent county financial liabilities and make sure your government remains transparent and open.

Chris is a committed public servant, uniquely qualified to protect the interests of our residents and act as chief legal counsel to the county.
